LOGLINE
Amid eco-social challenges and hopes for the future, three childhood friends embark on a lifelong mission to protect and preserve their ancestral land.
SYNOPSIS
Childhood friends Remy, Marites and Ricky, who are all descendants of the first indigenous settlers of Agusan Marsh, make it their life mission to protect and preserve their ancestral land. Despite the social and environmental challenges they have to face, they take small steps in achieving their common goal.
FILMMAKER’S PROFILE
Lens-based media artist from Davao region, BREECH ASHER HARANI creates films, video arts and photographs that tackle social, cultural and environmental issues. He uses audio-visual techniques such as documentary, experimental and animation to make impactful stories. He has collaborated with various local and international organizations to write, produce and screen video projects covering the impacts of Climate Change in the Philippines. He is the first Filipino JCS International Young Creatives Awardee by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences during the 47th International Emmy Awards. He is also the only Filipino artist listed by Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 for Arts in Asia in 2020, and the only Filipino recipient of CNN Abu Dhabi and Rockefeller Foundation’s CNN Academy: Global South Climate Storytelling Program 2023. In 2024, he became the Grand Winner of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Young Creatives Challenge for Feature Length Screenwriting.
DIRECTOR’S NOTES
I made this film as a tribute to my hometown Sagay City, Negros Occidental, to my mother, and most of all, to my grandfather. I always miss the moments we had before he succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease.
